Social Action & Volunteering
A key area of AsfarEurope’s social development activities is social action, citizenship and volunteering.
AsfarEurope encourages young people and young adults involved in our programmes to learn about their citizenship; what it means to be a citizen; and their civic responsibilities connected to this citizenship.
Citizenship is a privilege, which some young people do not benefit from, for instance refugees and displaced communities. AsfarEurope’s programmes support young people to understand their responsibilities and opportunities available through being a citizen today.
Social Action & Volunteering activities include:
- Volunteering & Social Action opportunities
- Meetings with Decision-makers & Public figures
- Workshops on Citizenship and Democracy
- Social Action project design workshops
- RESOLVE: Network – Youth Wing – Youth Board opportunities
AsfarEurope also encourages and support Young People to actively get involved in giving back to their communities through volunteering and social action, in particular, young people are welcome to join the RESOLVE: Network – Youth Wing and apply to join the Youth Board.
AsfarEurope also welcomes volunteers to get involved within our own organisation and can also support peer young people to volunteer.
AsfarEurope embeds Social Action training within all of our programmes, to support participants to develop their own Social Action project, whether it be on a local, national or international level or even to encourage them to become a volunteer in their community. Incorporating Enterprise skills, Information and Guidance, as well as Mentoring, AsfarEurope supports young people to launch their own unique socially beneficial projects within their own communities.
In 2020, over 23 young volunteers from across the globe, supported the launch of the first RESOLVE: Network – Youth Conference with the RESOLVE: Network – Partnership and Youth Wing to mark the UN 75th anniversary. This is just one example of youth-led social action, that AsfarEurope has been involved with in the last 12 months.
The 2nd RESOLVE: Network – Youth Conference will start being planned from July 2021. To express and interest in volunteering or to support the development of the 4 post-youth conference workshops (on Youth, Gender Equity, Climate Change and Memory, Storytelling & Reconciliation) email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
