Introducing Sharehan Alwakily, our speaker for the Inclustion in Peacebuilding panel at the RESOLVE: Network Conference 2024.
Sharehan Alwakily is a Bedouin Muslim student originally from the Negev in southern Israel. Sharehan is an English Access Microscholarship Alumna, and has participated in numerous peacebuilding programs, including delegations to Cyprus, the United Kingdom, the US, Albania and Kosovo (where she met with the foreign minister of Kosovo). She was one of the facilitators for a moot court event about Holocaust remembrance at the United Nations in NYC and is an Honorary Advisor to the NGO Committee on Sustainable Development-NY.
Sharehan actively promotes women’s empowerment in the Bedouin sector and uses her leadership, charisma, and public speaking skills to represent her community when traveling abroad on delegations.
Sharehan Alwakily and the RESOLVE: Network Conference 2024
Sharehan will share her story of overcoming patriarchal and other challenges to get an education, and how she has used her experiences to help and inspire others from her committee. She will help facilitate a simulation exploring how to hear and amplify the voices of minority communities within peacebuilding.
