Empowered by Change: My Transformative Experience with Catalyst for Change in Da Nang

During my month with Catalyst for Change in Da Nang, Vietnam, I had the opportunity to work with a non-profit organisation focused on improving education for children and empowering women. From the start, I was drawn to the causes the organisation supports, and my time there exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Even though I was only there for a short time, I gained a great deal, learning both career-useful skills and life lessons that will stay with me.

The volunteer house was a wonderful place to stay, and it didn’t take long for me to feel like part of the community. One of the best parts of my daily life there, was getting around on motor scooters- even if it was just for a quick two-minute ride. It was such a fun experience, and I’ll always remember it as one of the highlights of my time there. Along the way, I met some amazing people and was constantly inspired by the dedication of the staff and volunteers, all working towards meaningful change.

One of the most memorable experiences was hosting a women’s empowerment event. It was an incredible moment for me, and I could see how much it impacted the people who attended. It wasn’t just a great event for them—it was something that left me feeling inspired too. It was also the beginning of many more events like it. In addition to work, I enjoyed the little things that made my time in Da Nang so special—like walking along the beach, taking in the peaceful moments by the ocean, or spending time at some of the lovely cafés in the area. These small joys, added to my experience and made the trip unforgettable.

Looking back, my time at Catalyst for Change taught me a lot about myself and the world around me. Though my stay was short, this experience will always hold a special place in my heart.
