Coexistence in Europe

AsfarEurope’s first step towards our social objective: Coexistence in Europe, is new strategic partnership project: Erasmus+ Youth for Coexistence.

Youth for Coexistence (Y4C) project responds to the urgent need for youth workers to have effective skills/tools to counteract rising social intolerance & extremist ideologies in todays polarized Europe.

By empowering youth workers & youth leaders, the project seeks to enhance youth civic participation through innovative democracy methods, peacebuilding skills, & digitalized peacebuilding games.

The main objectives of the Y4C Project are:

  • Combat social intolerance and community-based conflict
  • Address hate speech and counter-speech
  • Mitigate the influence of extremist ideologies
  • Tackle the spread of fake news and disinformation on social media

Y4C builds on the successful RESOLVE peacebuilding initiative (2000+ youth development & 200 youth worker opportunities between 2018-2024), through established partnerships & proven practices while adapting to contemporary challenges through new collaborations. It emphasizes innovative approaches, i.e. gamification & digital toolkits to engage digital-native youth effectively.

Comprehensive training and resources will be provided i.e. peacebuilding toolkits & democracy activity kits, ensuring frontline youth workers are equipped to combat intolerance & encourage participation. The project addresses the need for digital literacy, equipping youth to critically evaluate information & counter disinformation. Creation of a sustainable, cross-border youth peacebuilding network will promote ongoing collaboration & knowledge exchange, ensuring lasting impact.

The Youth for Coexistence project is designed to empower youth workers/young leaders with skills/tools to address the lack of youth civic participation, through innovative youth democracy methods/tools, peacebuilding skills & digitalised peacebuilding games.
