According to the Guardian, young women in the UK are also adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, with a substantial rise in the number of women aged 20-40 being admitted to hospital with serious COVID cases in the second wave of COVID in the country.
In the UK there is a higher proportion of women ‘working in hospitality, such as pubs, cafes and restaurants, in the caring sector’ and as such, they are far more likely to come into contact with a large number of people.
Clearly more needs to be done internationally to ensure that this adverse affect on women is countered, providing more protection and support during what is already a difficult time for all.
